Biography

Thai Johnson is a brilliant young tenor from Marietta, Georgia who graduated from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Voice (2019) and an Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance (2021). Mr. Johnson is lauded for his brave approach to acting and singing while maintaining an openness which is inviting to the audience. Recent roles such as Fabrizio (The Light in the Piazza), Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), and Dater #19 (Speed Dating Tonight!) display the wide variety of characters Mr. Johnson is capable of portraying. He is equally comfortable in the realm of musical theatre, performing the roles of Abel (Children of Eden) and Motel (Fiddler on the Roof). Additionally, Mr. Johnson has earned first place finishes at GA NATS (2018-2020), GA MTNA (2019-2020), and advanced to the regional and national levels for MTNA (2019-2020) and The Orpheus Vocal Competition (2019), respectively. 

Mr. Johnson can be described as a young pedagogue with a natural gift for teaching, who believes singing should be fun and accessible to all people. His patient and friendly demeanor serve him and his students well, motivating them each to succeed in their goals. Mr. Johnson meets students at their individual levels and works with them to achieve their goals by promoting healthy singing with an emphasis on body awareness. His knowledge and experience with the Alexander Technique shape his approach with his students, providing them with an awareness they can carry with them in all aspects of life.
